Soon the kids will be back in school, the weather will be changing and in just a few short months, it will be the holidays. 2013 is going by way to fast! August brings lots of Family and Friend activities. Not only is it “National Family Fun Month”, but it is also has Friendship Day, Son & Daughter Day, Artist Day and Relaxation Day to just name a few. I cannot believe that Aedan is 3 ½ years old and Veronica is now 3 months. I have always loved a good reason to have a party, so we celebrated Aedan’s half birthday and Veronica’s quarter birthday. (Of course my birthday fell right in there too) Any reason to get together and celebrate and we are all over it.
I have been organizing my zillion pictures over the last several weeks and, now as I have been going through decades of family photos, I’m realizing just how much our celebrations truly mean to me and how much I enjoy looking back at them. They somehow always revolve around good food and silly times. While going through my pictures, I came across a couple of hand written recipes. One was from my Mother-In-Law and several were from my Grandmother. A flood of memories came over me seeing their hand writing. I could almost smell my Grandma’s famous pies. What priceless memories! I only hope to make such fond memories for my grand babies to remember me by! That kind of stuff is PRICELESS. I have decided I want to make a mini album of all these recipes from my grandmother’s, my Mother in Law, My Mom’s and others that I have. I have found pictures of them over the years that I am going to include in this album. We have so many great lines in the store that I am excited to get down there so I can dive right in. We scrapbook to preserve our family’s legacy. Our recipes are a huge part of that legacy. Of what makes our family unique. I am excited to start this project. Hopefully I have inspired you to scrapbook a few of your own family’s secret recipes, here are a few helpful hints… You can start your project in any size album, but I recommend about an 8x8 – not too small that you can’t include photos and embellishments, but not so huge that it’s hard to work with in the kitchen. If you don’t already have all the recipes you want, start by asking other family members to pass them along to you. Whenever possible, get a copy in the original handwriting. Don’t stress about scrapbooking every recipe – even if your family has only one or two specialties, go ahead and include them as layouts in your family regular album. Go see the girls at the store for some great inspirational ideas. New product is arriving from the Summer Trade Show. We are excited to be getting in new things from our favorite manufactures…. Bo Bunny, Heidi Swapp, Graphic 45, Tim Holtz, Crafters Workshop, Doodlebug, Maya Road, Ranger, Cosmo Cricket, Uniform Scrapbooks, We R, just to name a few. We are excited for all the new tools and such. Make sure to watch Face book as we will post as things start arriving.
