Another
October is over and hopefully you all are off your sugar rush from all the
Halloween Candy! The best part of Halloween for me (Besides Aedan's adorable
costumes) is I'm that much closer to my all time favorite holiday...
Thanksgiving! Yup that crazy holiday has actually snuck up on us again. It
seems like I have been snapping pictures non stop: With the Fair, all or our submissions to the Arts &
Crafts, Store events like our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser-
(CONGRATULATIONS TO Joan Nichols for winning our amazing gift basket vlaued at
over $1000.00), having the one and only Lance Anderson teaching at our store,
Fall pictures of Aedan playing in the leaves, the changing of the colors and now
I get to take even more pictures of my favorite holiday with my family.
I love to decorate, cook & bake. This year is going to be a little
different for us. I have actually decided to have our annual Black Friday sale
BEFORE Black Friday. Why you ask? Well for many reasons.... But the biggest
reason is so you can spend time with your family and friends this holiday
weekend and make precious memories that will last a lifetime, and not have to
fight the crazy crowds. Because that is exactly what WE are going to do. I
have decided to have our biggest bestest (ok that's not really a word) sale ever
during our annual Open House the SUNDAY before (November17th from 12 to 6pm) so
we can be CLOSED so OUR family can spend time together and make our own
memories....
Every
year I make a craft project with my top things I am most Thankful for, and each
year my list changes a little, but usually my top 5 remain the same. If you
have not made your list take the time right now and jot them down. Here are my
items I am most thankful for: 1- God, 2- My Church, 3- My Children &
Family, 4- My Faith, 5- My Country (Being an American), 6- My memories, 7- My
Health, 8- The laughter of a Child, 9- Being able to work for myslef & 10-
Being a Grandma (AKA Dr'Amma).
For me Thanksgiving is a
time for families and friends to get together, to enjoy a good meal, tell
stories, play games & of course eat pie. I think the holiday encourages
people to help their fellow man & once again I will be at the Casa Winter
Wonderland to help with this very important cause, this event was very important
to my late husband and I continue on with this tradition. If you have never
attended this please make time with your busy schedule to just stop by for a
little while, every dollar helps a child in need.
Thanksgiving means different things to different people.
Just what does Thanksgiving mean to you?

Every
month we will be posting a challenge on our Facebook, Blog, in our newsletter
etc. The Challenge will be the same, you can just access it from all outlets!
The challenge will be both a product and sketch challenge. We will provide you
with a sketch and a line that your layout (or project) must be completed from.
The layout must be 80% of that product line, so yes, you can add more of your
own embellishments and touches! Every month our design team will provide you
with samples and ideas to get those creative juices going. (They WILL NOT
actually be in the challenge) With that said the challenge and prizes are
available to ANYONE except store employees and immediate families of store
employees! Yes, that means you can even be from out of town!
All
you have to do is complete the challenge and turn it in to us by the deadline
and we will announce the winners!
Our
winners are picked by a blind panel of judges that consist of Manufacturers,
Designers, and Reps!
THAT
EASY!
This
month's challenge: Too Cute to Spook (Bella Blvd)

sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to reach North America. 6.
The pilgrims sailed on the ship, which was known by the name of
'Mayflower'. 7. They celebrated the first Thanksgiving Day
in the fall of 1621. 8. They celebrated the first
Thanksgiving Day at Plymouth, Massachusetts. 9. The drink
that the Puritans brought with them in the Mayflower was the beer.
10. The Wampanoag Indians were the people who taught the
Pilgrims how to cultivate the land. 11. The Pilgrim leader,
Governor William Bradford, had organized the first Thanksgiving feast in the
year 1621 and invited the neighboring Wampanoag Indians also to the feast.
12. The first Thanksgiving feast was held in the presence
of around ninety Wampanoag Indians and the Wampanoag chief, Massasoit, was also
invited there. 13. The first Thanksgiving celebration
lasted three days. 14. President George Washington issued
the first national Thanksgiving
Day Proclamation in the year 1789 and again in 1795. 15.
The state of New York officially made Thanksgiving Day an annual custom
in 1817. 16. Sarah Josepha Hale, an editor with a magazine,
started a Thanksgiving campaign in 1827 and it was result of her efforts that in
1863 Thanksgiving was observed as a day for national thanksgiving and prayer. 17. Abraham Lincoln issued a 'Thanksgiving
Proclamation' on third October 1863 and officially set aside the last
Thursday of November as the national day for Thanksgiving. Whereas earlier the
presidents used to make an annual proclamation to specify the day when
Thanksgiving was to be held. 18. President Franklin D.

year 1939. He did so to make the Christmas shopping season longer and thus
stimulate the economy of the state. 19. Congress passed an
official proclamation in 1941 and declared that now onwards Thanksgiving will be
observed as a legal holiday on the fourth Thursday of November every year.

of animal skins (mainly deer skin). 24. On December 11,
1620 the first Pilgrims (or Puritans, as they were initially known) landed at
Plymouth Rock. 25. By the fall of 1621 only half of the
pilgrims, who had sailed on the Mayflower,
survived. The survivors, thankful to be alive, decided to give a thanksgiving
feast.
